PROJECT DESCRIPTION
During their Art Residency at the Old Carpet factory in November 2024, Music in Exile invited seven musicians from different parts of the world to write and record and album together.
Boubacar Gaye (Senegal/Australia), Amadou Suso (Gambia/Australia), ‘Magou’ Seny Samb (Senegal/France), Seydou Diabeté (Burkina Faso), Gordon Li (Australia/UK) and Harry Ling (UK). The sessions was produced and engineered by Stefan Blair (Australia, Good Morning band).
Greece is a central point between nations in Europe, Africa and Asia, and often sees the convergence of many international migration routes. The island of Hydra itself is rich in cultural history and has been a hub for international artists in the 20th and 21st centuries. Artists like Bouabcar, Amadou, Magou and Seydou have lived through experience of the process of migration, and what it means to leave home in search of new opportunities.
